Which Waifu Card Set to Buy
The best way to decide which Waifu Card set to buy is to look through the “Product News” channel on the Waifu Card Community Discord server. However, this article serves as a good starting point for people getting into the hobby and wanting to understand the variety of cards on offer. Only sets that are still readily available to purchase are included in this article. Even though people may have heard of other popular sets like “A Group of Beautiful Women” or “Peach Party,” which are extremely popular sets, because they are hard to find, they are not included in this article.
For SFW Artwork
If people are looking for SFW artwork, want standard-sized and thickness cards, and like opening booster packs and getting lots of cards, they should go for the original Goddess Story series. This is the series that kick-started the trend of Waifu Cards. Another similar and very popular series is Flower Girl, which, in this writer’s opinion, has better-looking artwork and is more generous with foil cards.
For Lewder or Spicier NSFW Cards
If people like all of the above but want lewder or spicier NSFW cards, they can try the Senpai Goddess Haven series or the Maiden Party series. Both emphasize anime girls in bikinis and underwear.
For Even More Lewd and Outright Sexual Cards
If people want even more lewd and outright sexual cards or those that feature nudity, very few standard-sized and thickness sets have these features. However, there is another article on the website dedicated to the Lewdest Waifu Card Sets. They can also try cards from the Heart Star Light series, which are A5-sized, or from the Mei Se series, which are standard-sized but thicker than usual cards, making them more difficult to display in a binder.
For Larger Cards
A growing trend is cards that are bigger than standard-sized trading cards, such as A5 cards. We’ve already mentioned Heart Star Light, which is A5-sized, but a manufacturer well-known for making high-quality, beautiful larger cards is Ika. Cards from their Fu Guang series, which are A5-sized, and Above The Cloud series, which are A4-sized, are especially popular.
For 3D Style Artwork
Another popular series is ACG-SAC/LXG, a slightly older series with standard-sized but thick cards. The cards are on the lewder side, and all the artwork is “3D style” and less anime-like, which may not appeal to everybody. However, it is extremely popular, and if one likes this set, they’d likely enjoy similar sets like ACG Nvshen Lianmeng or Goddess Carnival.
For Standard-Sized but Thick Cards
The norm for standard-sized Waifu cards nowadays is for them to be thick cards (about 0.2cm thickness), which not everybody likes. However, if one can get over the thickness, there are many great standard-sized but thick card sets with vibrant artwork, a great variety of anime characters, and extremely good foiling effects and quality, such as Project Maiden and Girl Party.
